LeAnn Rimes

Tonight's event, "An Evening with LeAnn Rimes", was off the charts! Kudos to Angelina Arts Alliance for all their efforts... It was a wonderful evening!

I was fortunate enough to meet the beautiful and very talented, LeAnn Rimes, prior to her performance. It was a brief "Meet and Greet", but she was very gracious, as was her tour manager.

I was even allowed to take a few shots during the show. Of course, I have heard her music, but I was amazed by her singing in person. She has such a powerful voice and such a strong presence on stage.
Her new songs on "Family" were all written or co-written by her and are a reflection of her life. "There's this whole other side of me that's always been there. I've been writing my whole life but never felt confident enough. The confidence I felt in my singing is now how confident I feel in my writing".
LeAnn sees "Family" as the first in what may become a trilogy... we are hoping so!

Girl's Night Out!!

Marian Jordan, author and speaker, came to Lufkin to speak at a Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church sponsored “Girls’ Night Out” event on Sept. 30, 2008. The event was for women ages 15-25 but the message was timeless... “A painful existence of ‘looking for love in all the wrong places’ is hidden behind images of couture fashion, witty dialogue, and beautiful people. I know this to be true because I’ve lived it.” A former party girl with her own personal stories of hookups, hangovers, and heartbreaks, Marian now speaks to women nationwide about the unfailing love that she has found in Jesus. www.redeemedgirl.org

Singing Stars For Dystonia

Wow! What a truly touching evening! Love Minguez, put together an incredible fundraiser for her brother, Jun Buenaflor, who suffers from the illness X-Linked Dystonia-Parkinsonism and needs funds for DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) surgery.

22 contestants competed at the Lufkin Civic Center on Saturday,October 11, 2008. The winner won $500 and a recording contract with Encore Records.

I took pictures through out the event and several of each contestant. If you are interested in viewing more, please contact me.

What in the World???

This is one of the many reasons why I am behind on posting pics... expect the unexpected. On the way to Family, Fun and Fitness Day, traffic was stopped for this rather large and unexpected propane tank. The propane tank and trailer were as long as the bridge it was crossing. The trailer swiveled in the front and the back. Notice the man walking behind the trailer, he is using a remote to control the back end. Unbelievable! Apparently, the truck driver had to make a turn-around since the propane tank would not clear the bridge on Hwy 69. This was one of two tanks that came through town. Of course, I had to park the truck and dash out to take pics and get the scoop...

Women in the Outdoors

Learning new outdoor skills, meeting people with similar interests
and spending time with family and friends are what the Women in
the Outdoors program is all about.

Women are discovering that hobbies such as camping, hiking,
fishing, kayaking, hunting, shooting, and birdwatching are fun
ways to reconnect with the special people in their lives. At
daylong events held throughout the United States and Canada,
women receive expert instruction and a chance to try a variety of
outdoor activities thanks to the National Wild Turkey Federation
and its partners.

Beautiful New Mexico & Colorado

What an amazing trip! We went to Pagosa Springs, CO and drove through Texas, New Mexico and into Colorado. I had fun taking these pics while we were on the road. Yup, shot these through the window, while sitting in the back seat between two car seats at 70 MPH! Gotta love it!
